About Me

Kerin Schornstein I have a variety of experience in the mental health field and have worked with children, adults and families in different settings.  I am a solution focused therapist with over  20 years experience and truly believe I was meant to do this work.  I started out working in the mental health field as a case manager and advocate for clients and have always felt strongly about social injustices.  I have worked in hospitals and outreach programs in Chicago and Florida and obtained my MSW at Barry University.

Some of my early work experiences included working with adolescents suffering from sexual abuse as well as working with children doing play therapy.    My experience working in hospice proved to be invaluable and enabled me to help families move through the grieving process. Helping families navigate their way through the end of life was challenging and extremely rewarding.   As difficult as it was, I considered that work to be a gift.  It made me realize that my true passion and strengths lie in what I understand the most.

Disordered eating and body image has been something I have personally found to be my calling.  My experience working  with clients struggling with eating disorders and addictions has now become my focus and I believe that my life experiences have given me the gift to help others.
